How to Use the Parking Feature in Vision InSites

The parking feature in Vision InSites allows you to issue parking violations, add neutral notes, and track vehicle history efficiently using the Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) system. This guide walks you through the steps to navigate the parking feature and maximize its functionality.

1. Accessing the Parking Feature

  • Navigate to the site where you are conducting parking services.

  • Locate the “Vehicle Scanner” under the site name (e.g., Infiniti Offices).

  • Click on “Vehicle Scanner” and allow camera access to activate the ALPR.

2. Using the Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR)

  • The ALPR allows fast scanning of license plates as you move through the property.

  • Position the license plate within the camera’s view and hit “Scan.”

  • The license plate number will be processed and displayed at the top.

  • Editing the License Plate:

    • If the ALPR misinterprets a character (e.g., an ‘S’ instead of a ‘5’), you can manually correct it in the search field.

3. Creating an Observation

If the vehicle has no previous history:

  • Click on the “+Observation” button that populates.

  • Choose the appropriate violation type from the dropdown options.

💡 Note (Neutral Observation): If no violation occurred but you need to make a note for your team (e.g., “Resident will have a permit tomorrow”), select “Note (Neutral Observation)”. This keeps your team informed without issuing a violation.

4. Adding Notes and Photos

  • You can add a custom note for additional context (optional).

  • Up to five photos can be uploaded to document the observation.

    • This allows for all four sides of the vehicle to be documented, as well as an up-close image of the warning slip for reference.

  • To add a photo:

    • Click into the photo box and capture the image.

  • Repeat until all relevant photos are uploaded.

  • An icon at the bottom indicates successful photo uploads.

5. Submitting the Observation

  • Once the note and photos are added, click “Create Observation.”

  • The system will process the submission, and you can continue to the next vehicle.

6. Viewing Vehicle History and Continuity

If the same vehicle is scanned again (e.g., on the next day):

  • The system displays a Timeline instead of the Observation button.

  • Click on Timeline to see the vehicle’s history, including all past violations and neutral notes.

  • This allows all team members to see the vehicle’s history, ensuring continuity and accountability.

7. Editing or Adding Follow-Up Notes

  • Select “Observation” again and choose “Note” for neutral updates.

    • Example: “Resident informed me they will have a permit tomorrow.”

  • This keeps the team informed of updates or special circumstances.

  • The note appears above the previous entry, maintaining chronological order.
