Device Management

Device Management allows admins to view, approve, rename, activate, and deactivate devices that are used to access Vision InSites. This helps your team control which devices are authorized for use on your aThis article explains how to manage your devices.

Where to Find Device Management

  • Click your portrait in the top-right corner

  • Select Accounts

  • Click on Devices

This page displays devices that are currently in use, how many total devices are allowed, and how many remaining devices you can activate.


Viewing Registered Devices

The Devices page displays the devices currently associated with your account. Each device listed will have the following information:

  • Device type

  • Device identifier

  • Friendly name(if assigned)

  • Device status

You can search for a devices by its device identifier. This is helpful when you need to confirm which device belongs to a specific guard or site.


Finding the Device Identifier

  • Open the Vision InSites app on the device

  • Click the VI logo at the top of the screen three times

The first 8 characters of the Device Identifier are what appears on the Devices page.


Approving a New Device

Users will not be able to login to a device until it is authorized. If the device has not yet been authorized it will receive the prompt in the image below.

The first time a device is used to login to the Vision InSites app, it will appear in the pending tab

And then click Approve.

New phones or factory reset devices will result in a new unique device ID and will need to be approved.


Deauthorizing a Device

To remove the ability to access Vision InSites from a specific device:

  • Navigate to the Devices page

  • Find the device you want to deauthorize

  • Click the deauthorize button

Deauthorized devices will remain in your device history so you can easily go back in and re-activate them.


Renaming a Device

You can give a device a friendly name to make it easier to identify later.

For example, instead of only seeing the device type and a partial identifier, you can rename the device to something like:

  • North Gate iPhone

  • Patrol Device 01

  • Infinity Apartments Google Pixel

  • Guard Shack iPad

To rename a device:

  • Navigate to the Devices page

  • Find the device you want to rename

  • Click the pencil icon next to the device name

  • Enter the new device name


Requesting Additional Devices

If you need to add more devices, you can simply:

  • Navigate to the Devices page

  • Click on + Request more devices

  • A chat window will pop-up

  • Enter the number of devices you would like to add

  • A team-member will increase your allowed devices by that amount
